Voluntary departure

There are certain cases in which the best solution for an individual in removal proceedings is voluntary departure.  For example, certain individuals may qualify for a green card via consular processing and the best solution is for them to voluntarily return to their country of origin to attend a consular interview and then return as a lawful permanent resident.
